Healthy & Sexy: Erotica, Sexual Fantasy, & Self-Love

Greeting from an erotic author in lockdown. Many things are more fun together, so here’s an update on how I’m using hypnosis, sexual fantasy, erotica, erotic romance, and orgasms to stay healthy. Keeping my focus on pleasure, love, and wonderful readers and allies around the worlds is fantastic for busting quarantine blues. I’m envisioning a better future, and preparing for it by taking good care of myself. I want you to get plenty of stress-relief and good feelings, too. It can be tough with isolation or a lack of privacy.

It’s mid-2020, and it remains controversial to assert that sexual fantasy, self-pleasure, erotic books, steamy romance, and outright smutty erotica for consenting adults are healthy. Let’s be out in the forefront of sexual freedom together. Erotic feelings are natural and life-affirming. I’m certain that eying my neighbor’s big chest muscles does me a world of good! In lockdown, our imaginations give us escape and solace–and have the potential to spark exquisite orgasms. Sexual pleasure releases endorphins, and that’s fantastic for your immune system.

His mouth took hers in a brutal kiss.
Hunger surged through her. She clung to him, and his big hands crushed her.
A distant whimper came from her throat, and he devoured that, too.
He broke the kiss, leaving her dazed.
Like a mask snapping into place, he became rigid, locked in his iron control. “Don’t say a word.”  from Dark Surrender

This week, the hypnotist Paul McKenna posted his Radiant Health hypnosis to his YouTube channel as a gift for us in these times. I’ve been using it for weeks and a soothing antidote to all the anxieties that sprout about Covid19 risks. As I listen to his voice and affirm my health, I banish all the fears that worry at the edges of my thoughts. By doing hypnosis in the mornings before I get out of bed, I’m better able to rise above unnecesary distractions and move forward with each day’s tasks.

Keeping my mind on spirited heroines who captivating strong, sexy men is far more pleasurable than the alternatives! My grandmother used to say ‘rise above it,’ referring to anything mean-spirited or ignorant. The practice of keeping our minds focused on affirming life works well with anything that threatens to drag us down.

Our natures are radiant. A baby’s smile. A child’s song. A smile of triumph. A moan of desire. We can, even at difficult times, find joy and wonder. Each day, I notice the things that raise my spirits, and I write a gratitude list. It’s a simple thing that creates a positive focus. I need that more than ever right now.

I’m moved by the ordinary heroes striving to help and to keep others safe: the parents, teachers, health care workers, truckers, public safety personnel, supply chain people from food growers to grocery clerks. I give thanks for wise and talented authors, entertainers, counselors, and people sharing gifts of body-mind techniques for wellness, and I am particularly grateful to our elders sharing their stories with us.

If you possibly can, reach out to older people. We can each help to bridge the isolation that can be crushing. Elders have been a great gift in my life, from my grandmother to the present time. Taking time to listen matters.

The original 2016 Bear Consumed cover. I missed the mark for werebear books. I’ve got an older doctor going bear-wild on a virgin. Kinky, wicked-hot, and a potal-fantasy adventure–not a standard shifter romance.

For the past few weeks I’ve been editing a new edition of Bear Consumed, a shifter novella. It’s hot, a bit dark, and edgy. I removed it from sale a couple of years ago because it’s right on a line that could get the book banned. Watching many authors of Erotic Romance lose their publishing accounts sparked the decision to remove a few of my books from most retailers. Some of my early edgy books are available on Smashwords.

Last year, some self-published Dark Romances were removed from sale. I had a tough time finishing my Billionaire Dark Obsession duet in that oppressive climate. I didn’t want to pull its teeth, and I didn’t want to lose my livelihood.

It wasn’t the optimum time to publish a book about a damaged billionaire dom buying a desperate virgin to become his doll. I did it anyway.

Fortunately, I’ve been able to retain the spirit of Bear Consumed with only mild modifications to underline full consent. In fantasy, in my private worlds, consent gets blurry. To me, writing intense sex scenes where consent isn’t 100% explicit isn’t the same as glorifying non-consent.

Possibly disturbing material allowed in other genres comes under greater scrutiny when it’s presented in Romance or Erotica, because we’re daring to expose pleasure.  Pleasure and sex aren’t neat and easily defined.

I sometimes amuse myself imagining censors rubbing one out while reading my kinky sex scenes. Mm, it made you come. Must be dirty.

These days, the lines between pleasure and danger are particularly intense. I may be isolated, but I can still be sexy in private. So can you, with or without a partner. I like the quiet before dawn.

An orgasm remains one of the best ways to start the day.

Here’s Dark Surrender, my Billonaire Dark Obsession duet–if you’re in the mood for a BDSM Caribbean escape with an obsessed Dom and a feisty virgin. You get the complete set in one book, no cliffhanger. It’s available in Kindle Unlimited for awhile longer. I mined my early years in San Francisco’s S&M scene for the training chapters. For Amazon stores other than the US, you can enter the book number in search: b086jdqx62

When I planned my writing career during my college year, I didn’t picture writing about masturbating in quarantine during a pandemic. 😁 I didn’t know I’d achieve my travel dreams, and that I’d create a self-publishing business. We don’t know how the future will look, so let’s fill our hearts with good thoughts and love. These are challenging times. When it get’s us down, let’s rise above it and affirm life. We’re getting through the toughest part, and there are brighter days ahead. Hang in there.

This is a good time to be kind, as much to ourselves as to others. We will get through this. Let’s keep our light shining.

Wherever you are in the world and on your journey, I send you love.
